Tour de Gwent: The race to raise money

The challenging bike ride that gave really rewarding results. We wanted to raise money for St. David’s Hospice Care by taking part in their annual cycling event in South Wales.

Meet the team that made it happen:
David Champs, TC Consult
Robin Williams, Asbri Planning Consultancy
Justin Thomas, McCann Building Service Consultancy
Dean Richards, Shaw Healthcare
Leigh Hughes, Bouygues Construction

Our team took on the Silver route 52 miles long with 3,110ft climbs. It’s fair to say it was a formidable course. However, a necessary one because we were determined to raise as much as we could for this amazing charity. St. David’s Hospice help provide patients and their families with the best possible care and support during the most difficult time in their lives. This specialist end-of-life care is crucial to helping local people with life-limiting illnesses to feel comfortable and supported throughout their journey.

We managed to complete the route in just under 3hrs 30mins. Despite the mechanical problems along the way, which the mobile mechanics quickly sorted, we think we finished in pretty good time. Although we’re very proud of our time, what’s more important is how much we collectively managed to raise. The event so far has made a whopping £256k and we couldn’t be more delighted to be a part of this. There’s still time to push that number higher, so if you’d like to make a donation please follow the link to help a great cause.
