TC Consult has completed a new two-storey office development project for Unite the Union, the largest trade union and largest general union in the UK.
The building, in Dagenham, will re-house existing Unite employees plus employees of another organisation and display a mural to celebrate the 1968 strike by women at Dagenham Ford that was credited with leading to the Equal Pay Act.
A united team
Acting as Quantity Surveyors for the long-standing client, TC was able to successfully find a new contractor – Huttons Construction Ltd – via a competitive tender process.
The project team included architects TACP Architects, M&E engineers Progressive Services Design Ltd and civil and structural engineers WSP Engineering Ltd.
Success despite the challenges
Despite the build taking place during the pandemic, with all the restrictions and additional safety measures to introduce and adhere to, the client has been extremely pleased with the contractor’s performance.
TC is delighted to have brought the project in on budget in spite of the situation.
