Location: Pencoed, South Wales
Value: £350k
Client: Handelsbanken / Primesite Properties

Project details

TC Consult were appointed by Handelsbanken to provide fund monitoring services on this JCT Design and Build retail development in Pencoed.

A busy area with a high population of residents and workers, the new unit forms part of a redevelopment of the former Old Kings Head public house on Coychurch Road.

Mixing things up

Constructed to shell and comprising one unit sub divided into two smaller units, the design by CW Architects incorporated a mix of stonework, render and time clad external walls a slate roof, to fit in with the surrounding buildings’ characteristics, with structural steel frame design by Shear Design engineers.

A speedy success

The site was compact and the access constraints and working space posed challenges. Despite this, the 5,300sq ft development was constructed by Jehu Project Services within a tight five-month programme, and successfully completed and handed over.

Tesco took the space, alongside bakery retailer Greggs who took 1,000 sq ft of the space as part of its UK-wide expansion strategy to make Greggs more accessible to new customers.
