In July, six members of the TC team spent the day volunteering at our chosen charity, FareShare Cymru here in Cardiff. FareShare is the UK’s leading charity fighting food waste and tackling hunger and the root causes of food poverty. Right now they’re working really hard to address the cost of living crisis in Wales using surplus food.
Working in pairs alongside members of the FareShare team, we went out in three vans delivering to various community groups across South Wales including churches and food banks. Once back at the warehouse, we spent the afternoon food picking and packaging, ready for the vans to go out again the next day.
FareShare is doing an amazing job in increasingly tough times. In 21/22 they provided 9,462 charity partners with the equivalent of 128.3 million meals, helping them support 1 million people across the UK.
